Neve Campbell Was Not Driving This Car

Our small household of 3 recently expanded when a friend and her daughter moved in.  I saw this plate a few days later , and took it as a good omen.

Parkour Is Not For Us Old Folks

My very energetic daughter is loving the parkour classes at Scottsdale Gymnastics.  I’m loving the Friday night activity that leaves her exhausted, thus eliminating any requests about staying up late.  On a more serious note, I’m thrilled with the confidence she’s building, and the fact that a mild injury no longer evokes tears and agony – she’s now decided to be tough around the “big boys,” as she’s usually the only girl in the class!

Never heard of Parkour?  Also known as Free Running – was featured in opening scene of Casino Royale. Here’s a cool video from Julie Angel of Parkour Generations.

While I do love watching the Parkour class and even envision myself flying over those barriers sometimes, I’ve concluded that - since I’m flirting with forty – that snowboarding should remain my one “crazy mom” activity.

McLovin Spotted At Starbucks – Or Was It Frank Kern?

Well, OK, so I didn’t actually see McLovin (or Kern)….I only saw this vanity plate outside Starbucks.  If you’re not familiar with dear McLovin and the hilarious story involving his fake ID, be sure check out the movie and other Superbad stuff.

For those of you familiar with marketing genius Frank Kern, you already know about his self-proclaimed Superbad-ness and that the title is well earned.

The Origin of ‘Howziz’?

I’ve heard this phrase used – it’s basically interchangable with ‘Wassup?!’

While a Google search brings loads o’ results, I haven’t yet discovered the origin of ‘Howziz’.  Many thanks to anyone who can enlighten me, fo shizzle.

Who The Hell Is Pootie Tang?!

I was cool once.

There was actually a time when I was so tied in to pop culture - and even some subculture – that I would have immediately known the answer to this one.

But that was a long time ago.

So after seeing this plate repeatedly at a particular industrial park, I swallowed my pride, accepted my current-day “non-coolness” and turned to the Urban Dictionary to enlighten me.

Of course, discovering the definition just depressed me further….additional evidence of my lost hipness.  “Who,” I asked myself, “Is the ‘Great Pootie Tang‘?”

And then I found the Pootie Tang trailer on YouTube.   I wonder if it’s as good as Dolomite?

Did I mention that it’s been a while since I was cool?….

Streaking At A Christian College?

Surely you’ve seen the 1997 British comedy about six unemployed steel workers  who form a male striptease act for somewhat noble purposes?  I’m not certain what kind of shenanigans occur at Ohio Wesleyan, but it might be worth checking out.

At least take a look at ”The Full Monty” finale posted on YouTube.  The film’s characters are quite endearing – definitely worth a rental if you haven’t seen it.  Or even if you have.
