“If This Car Is A-Rockin’…..”

Don\'t Interrupt!

Great advertising idea.  I bet it beats having to ask, “Hey Baby, you lookin’ for a date?” over and over on the street corner.

Vanity Plates For Your Smart Car

Smart CarA friend of mine reports that she has officially become a “Smart Enthusiast.”

“Is that like being a member of Mensa?” I asked, clueless.

Not exactly.

According to the Smart Car website, this just means that she has put down a $99 deposit to reserve her new car.

The conversation then turned to potential vanity plates.  Here’s what we came up with – which do you like best?

Bumper Stickers of The Uber-Liberals

[VERITY plate with anti-bush bumper stickers]

Any bets on how this driver will vote in November?  Looks like she may have some hostility toward the current administration.  Could we consider it “outrage”?

In an article at WSJ.com, “Where’s The Outrage?” Professor Arthur C. Brooks proposes that there may actually be a lack of outrage in the US, according to a recent survey.  In the article he states:

Virtually every group in the population is less angry in 2008 than in 1996 — those making more and those making less than the average income; college-educated and noncollege-educated folks; men and women.

Only one major group in the population has gotten angrier: people who call themselves “very liberal.” While conservatives, moderates and nonextreme liberals all have seen their average levels of outrage fall over the past 12 years, the number of angry days among our leftiest neighbors has risen 56% (to 2.28 from 1.46), and the percentage with no angry days in the past week has fallen to 31% from 37%. Today, very liberal people spend more than twice as much time feeling angry as do political moderates. One in seven is outraged seven days a week.

I’m guessing that the driver of this Beetle is that 1 in 7.

Brandon Siler Loves to Paraglide

San Diego Chargers #59

Snapped this pic at the Torrey Pines Gliderport in San Diego.  Maybe the Chargers’ 2007 7th round draft pick, Brandon Siler, has taken up paragliding?  OK, maybe not.
